Report on VDMT Training Programme at Cuddalore Block - day 1

Minutes of the Programme

Village Disaster Management was organised for 25 villages of Cuddalore Block today at Sri Padaleeswarar Government High School, Thirupapuliyur, Cuddalore. Totally 272 people participated in this programme. Ms. Sakinabee, District Project Officer, DRM Programme, Cuddalore District and Mr. Sherine David, NUNV, District Recovery Facilitator, UNTRS-TN attended the programme. The Training programme was organised for First Aid Team, Water & Sanitation Team and Safety & Rescue Team. The participants who were given specific tasks were asked to go to their respective classes.

The resource persons from St. John’s Ambulance handled the first aid training. The trainers provided information on basic methods to be followed during a rescue operation, various types of emergency treatment for the affected people during a disaster, do’s and don’ts during a first aid treatment and how to function during a emergency period with the materials in hand.

The resource persons from Fire Station office, Cuddalore Block handled the Safety and Rescue Training. The trainers gave information on importance for the training, how to rescue people during a disaster, precaution measures to be taken in rescue operation during a disaster, things to do during a rescue operation and role of various types of knots in a rescue operation.

The resource persons from Health Department, Cuddalore Block handled the session on Water and Sanitation. The trainers gave information on water borne disease and the ways to prevent such diseases, importance of using toilets, role of the team during and after a disaster.

Fire Service Team performed Mock Drill after the Training session to all the participants. Representatives from various team shared to all the participants about what they learnt in the training. Food was distributed all the participants about the training programme.
