Educational Kit for Pattraiyadi school going children

Master. Siddarth, 12 year boy studying in Delhi (son of Mr. Suraj Kumar, a staff member of UNDP) has donated Rs. 1,142/25 ps (Rupees one thousand one hundred and forty two paise/-) through UNDP from his piggy bank savings for the cause of Tsuanami Recovery. His donation has provided educational kits for 7-school going-Irula Tribe children (with the support of Indo-global Social Service Society) in Pattraiyadi village, Cuddalore District.

These people are living near to the backwater for the past 50 years and are involved in inland fishing. These people use to catch fishes in the backwater by hand without any equipment. Their normal income will be around Rs.50/day. After Tsunami, Indo-Global Social Service Society (IGSSS) as a part of livelihood support provided 2 Cattamarans for this community. Due to this support, now they are earning Rs. 100/- day.

Due to the interest shown by the District Administration in the welfare of Scheduled Caste/Tribe communities in Cuddalore District, these people were included in the name list of Permanent Housing for the Secondary affected villages.
